Planning guide
Planning a wedding in Malta
Malta hosts around 2,600 weddings a year, and most of them are planned by two people with full-time jobs, a spreadsheet, and six months of evenings. The islands compress everything a wedding needs into 30 minutes' drive: baroque palazzos and clifftop terraces, golden-hour light that photographers fly in for, and a hospitality trade that has fed wedding parties for generations.
A rough guess at the numbers: many Malta weddings land somewhere between €12,000 and €35,000 all-in, venue and catering take the biggest share of any budget, and the best venues book out 12 to 18 months ahead for May to October Saturdays. Everything else is recoverable; the date and the venue are not, so start there.

Wedding questions, answered straight
How much does a wedding in Malta cost?
As a rough guess from public prices: €100 to €250 per guest all-in, so a 120-guest wedding somewhere around €12,000 to €28,000. Venue hire €800 to €4,000 (or €60 to €120 a guest with the venue's own food), catering €40 to €90 a guest, drinks €18 to €40 a guest, a photographer €1,000 to €2,000 for the day, a DJ €200 to €800, flowers and styling €400 to €1,500. See each kind of supplier for the sources. Under €10,000 is achievable at 50 to 60 guests with a terrace venue and feast-style catering.
How far in advance should I book?
Venues: 12 to 18 months for peak-season Saturdays (May to October). Photographers and popular caterers: 9 to 12 months. DJs, florists, transport: 4 to 6 months. Off-season (November to March) halves most lead times and often the venue price too.
What's the best month to get married in Malta?
May, June, September and October give you 25 to 28°C and reliable golden hour without August's 35°C heat. September is the sweet spot: warm sea, softer light, and slightly better venue availability than June.
Can foreigners get married in Malta?
Yes. Malta is one of Europe's easiest destination-wedding jurisdictions. Civil ceremonies require paperwork lodged about 6 weeks ahead, and English is an official language, which simplifies everything from contracts to vows.
Venue or planner first?
Venue. It fixes the date, the guest ceiling and roughly a third of the budget, and every other decision hangs off those three. EventPlanly drafts the rest of the plan around whichever venue you pick, so you can compare complete plans, not just rooms.
